The results are in and we’ve had an incredible 16 wins at recent regional inter-college competitions in a variety of disciplines, from plastering to performing arts.

These annual nationwide competitions allow apprentices and students to compete to be named the best in their discipline. Learners from colleges across the UK come together for these events, each hoping to prove that they’re the best of the best. The top two from each local competition then come together at a regional event.

Newcastle College Principal Jon Ridley said: “Congratulations to all the participants and very well done to the winners. High performance across a wide range of technical disciplines reflects the application and commitment of the students shaped by high-quality teaching and focussed support that makes up the  Newcastle College student experience.

"Competition is an important part of the development process. It builds courage as students experience working to time and standard pressure. This in turn nurtures confidence, preparing the entrants for their future career, giving them the edge in a competitive workplace.

"I love seeing Newcastle College students performing so strongly against their peers. The individuals progressing to the regional event take with them our very best wishes."
