Supporting Teaching and Learning (Part-Time) - Level 3

The course runs once a year, starting in September.

• GCSE English grade 3/D or above

or

• Functional Skills Level 2 English

or

• ESOL Level 2 English

This course includes a mandatory placement element in a suitable Early Years setting. You will be expected to apply for a DBS when beginning the college course. You will be guided through this process by your tutor.

If you complete this course successfully, you will receive a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

In your work experience setting, you will work alongside a class teacher and support with small groups of learners undertaking learning activities linked to National Curriculum subjects.

You could be involved in working one-to-one with children who may need additional support or undertake some admin tasks as requested by the teacher. You will be observed by an assessor who will look at identifying your skills and behaviours to deem you as competent to become a teaching assistant.

We can support you to develop your English and maths skills alongside your course. English and maths skills are essential to support children develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

You will develop your skills in practical scenarios. There will be lots of records to update and you may be involved in ordering and monitoring financial issues or budgets once employed.

You could apply for roles within education as a teaching assistant or progress onto our Foundation Degree in Children and Young People.
