College achievements

Newcastle College is one of the top performing colleges in the UK offering a wide range of flexible courses to suit everyone.

We are extremely proud of our success and achievements at Newcastle College, see some of these achievements below:

  • Newcastle College has been ranked, in the Department for Education league tables, as the best performing general FE college in England for 16-18 year old achievement for three years in a row from 2010 - 2012.
  • In 2011 Newcastle College Corporation was awarded Foundation Degree Awarding Powers (FDAP). We are one of only two college’s in the UK who have the ability to validate our own Foundation degrees. This means we can continue to build on our key strength of developing new and exciting Foundation Degree programmes that meet the needs of employers and industry.
  • The College's Student Services department holds the Matrix Award after a successful inspection in December 2012. Matrix is a national quality standard for organisations delivering information, advice and guidance services about learning and work. Student Services demonstrated how they work to continually improve service delivery. The team was particularly praised for its highly motivated staff and commitment to equal opportunities.
  • The College has Learning and Skills Beacon Status. Launched in 1994 by the Association of Colleges (AoC) and sponsored by the Basic Skills Agency, the annual national Beacon Award recognises and rewards outstanding teaching and learning, which enhances and enriches the experience of learners.
