Have you always dreamed of working with food? Are you ready to take the first step in starting your career as a chef? This apprenticeship is the perfect starting point for you.

Throughout this Commis Chef Level 2 apprenticeship you will gain the skills and experience needed to start out in the kitchens. A commis chef prepares food and carries out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of a more senior chef. The primary objective of the commis chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen.

Working alongside industry-experienced tutors and chefs, you will learn the skills you need to be a competent and skilled commis chef whilst working in our professional standard kitchens.

What can I do with a qualification in Hospitality?

Daily tasks:

  • Makes cake decorations, spreads icing, fillings and toppings on products.
  • Bakes bread, pastry and cakes.
  • Fills and glazes pastry, mixes ingredients for cakes.
  • Rolls and cuts pastry, stretches, kneads and moulds dough to form bread, rolls and buns.
  • Mixes ingredients using hand or machine to obtain the required consistency.
  • Weighs ingredients according to recipe.
