Renewable and subsea engineering

Renewable and subsea engineering at Newcastle College

All of our renewable and subsea engineering courses are delivered at the Newcastle College Energy Academy, based on the North bank of the river Tyne in Wallsend.

Facilities include welding bays, fabrication equipment, MMA, MIG and TIG welding, plasma cutting and engineering workshops. The College also has equipment for the testing of 1KW wind turbines and solar panels as well as Computer Aided Design (CAD) facilities.

Newcastle College has close links to companies involved in the manufacturing of energy technology and the fitting and maintenance of offshore installations. Our renewable and subsea engineering students benefit from site visits to engineering companies and guest lectures from industry experts. Newcastle College has also formed a partnership with Maersk Training, a leading provider of on-shore and offshore training for the offshore and renewable sector. This opens up a range of extra curriculum opportunities for college students.
