Travel and Tourism Case Study

Courtney Dean - Level 3 Travel and Tourism

“I researched what qualifications my career looked for and Level 3 Travel and Tourism was one of them. I saw the College offered this course so I came to an Open Day. I enjoyed the Open Day it was very informative. I meet the course tutor and the information she gave me about the course was very appealing. I also spoke to Student Services they were helpful and provided me with financial information. They helped me sort out a free travel pass and bursary for uniform for my course.

So far the work placements are what I have enjoyed the most about my course. We get to do two work placements through the year. The College arrange the placement for you, which I found beneficial. My placement has been at different train stations where I have helped passengers, shadowed members of staff in different roles and helped with tasks. By going on placement, I have become more independent as I had to travel to and from placement as I would if I was in employment and you are trusted by the employer to turn up and do your best. I would recommend coming to Newcastle College. It’s a nice environment to study in and there are a variety of courses you can study.”
