Covid updates

Important Update - 5 March 2021

IMPORTANT: The NHS website is currently down. If you have booked a testing slot on campus today, you may not be able to register ahead of your test. You should still attend your test on campus.

Important Update - 1 March 2021

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the reopening of schools and colleges,  we can confirm that Newcastle College will begin welcoming students back to campus from Monday 8 March. Due to the practical nature of our degrees, this includes the majority of Newcastle College University Centre students.

Due to the size of Newcastle College, students will not be able to return on the same day. Students will be invited back over a three week period between Monday 8 March and Monday 22 March. Return dates will depend on which course a student is enrolled on. Students should soon receive an email communication explaining the process for safe return to campus. Tutors will then send further information with specific return details for each course and an invite to attend campus for an initial Covid-19 test.

We want to reassure everybody that safety remains our highest priority and safety measures will continue to be in place across campus for the foreseeable future. Further safety information is detailed below. This page will continue to be updated in the coming days and weeks. You can view student FAQS here.

Newcastle College University Centre Students

Due to the practical nature of most of our degrees, Newcastle College University Centre Students will begin returning to campus from Monday 8 March. Curriculum teams will be reaching out to students with specific details. For further information regarding the University Centre and how we're supporting our degree students, please click here.

If you, or someone in your household or bubble experiences symptoms, you should not attend campus.

If you develop symptoms you should self-isolate for 10 days before returning to campus and get tested wherever possible. You should not come onto campus until you receive a negative test result or your isolation period has finished.

If someone within your household or support bubble develops symptoms, you should self-isolate for 10 days from the onset of their symptoms or wait for them to receive a negative test result before returning to campus.

Full guidance on this is available on the NHS website at

Please remember to play your part in keeping yourselves and others safe by continuing to follow all of the safety measures we have put in place on campus, including wearing a face covering inside buildings and maintaining a safe distance from others at all times.
