Do you lack confidence in maths? Do you want to improve your maths skills to help you gain a qualification or employment?
Maths is essential to almost any job and this Functional Skills qualification will help you to develop an understanding of maths and the essential skills you will need.
You will learn how to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations and after you've completed the course you will be able to demonstrate core maths skills.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Entry is via an assessment which will be completed at college to determine which level you should enrol onto. A maths teacher will discuss with you the most appropriate level based on the assessment results.
What will I achieve?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Functional Skills Maths qualification in one of three levels depending on the level you study at:

Using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages
Using common measures, shape and space
Handling information and data
Reading, understanding and using mathematical information and mathematical terms
Recognising and obtaining a solution to a straightforward problem
How is the course taught?

Assessment (split into two parts, one with a calculator and one without)
Where can I progress?
Learners who achieve the Functional Skills qualification in mathematics at Levels 1 and 2 can progress to further mathematical study such as GCSE, or any other further vocational study.
You could also choose to enter the workplace with your new skills and confidence.
