This Level 3 Counselling course if perfect if you want to study counselling or develop your skills in a career where counselling skills are used.
You will gain an introduction to counselling skills in everyday life and work and also have the opportunity to learn about different psychological approaches within counselling.
Studying Level 3 Counselling will also increase your understanding of self-development and give you an insight into practical skills that can help others.
This course is the perfect foundation to progress onto higher level Counselling courses which could then lead onto a professional career in Counselling.

Relevant experience in a supportive role (this will be assessed at application stage).
What will I achieve?
If you complete this course successfully you will receive an NCFE Level 3 in Counselling Skills.
You can also choose to extend your knowledge and undertake a Level 2 in Suicide Awareness alongside this course.
What will I learn?
Developing counselling skills such as empathy, interpersonal skills, reflection, paraphrasing, challenging and appropriate questioning.
Theoretical approaches in the use of counselling skills including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred and Psychodynamic approaches.
Working ethically with counselling skills in line with professional body guidelines including NICE and the BACP
Counselling skills and diversity: Potential conflicts, approaches and ethical dilemmas.
Counselling skills and personal development: reflective practice, personal motivations and group behaviour.

Work experience opportunities
We regularly host guest lectures from industry professionals to enrich your learning.
This is a practical course where you will have an opportunity to put theoretical knowledge into practice through simulated skills practice with tutors and peers.
Many of our students also volunteer in industry alongside the course, to gain more experience working in listening services.
English and Maths
We will support you to enhance your English and maths skills on this course. You will use mathematical skills to analyse research and English skills to communicate effectively and write reports.
Where can I progress?
Upon successful completion of this course you can apply to work in a supportive role within the listening services industry.
Alternatively, if you complete the course successfully you can progress onto a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling or Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice and Guidance.
If you are aged 19+ funding support may be available depending on your circumstances and current grades.
