Overview

Get your head in the game with this fun, sport focused course. It's a great option if you want to pursue a sports career, but didn't get the GCSEs you had hoped for.

You will have the chance to take part in team games, learn the basics of personal fitness and deliver community activities alongside NE Youth.Newcastle Eagles and Newcastle United Foundation helped us to develop this course and deliver exciting, practical sessions at their grounds.

Students also have the chance to take trips to the Lake District, thanks to our partnership with NCS.

Progression Opportunities

After completing this course successfully, you can progress onto a Level 2 in Sport and Protective Services at Newcastle College.

 

Career Opportunities

There are also opportunities to apply for an apprenticeship as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Leisure Team Member or Community Activator.

Entry Requirements

• 3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including GCSE grade 2 in English and maths

Course Costs

16 to 18s

Learners are eligible for free tuition if they are aged 16-18 when beginning their studies.

If the course being applied for is a two-year qualification, you will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the remainder of the course.

If the course being applied for is two separate one-year qualifications and you begin studying year one of the course aged 18, you will be required to pay fees for the second year.

If you are aged 18 when beginning the course, it is advised that you talk to our Student Services Team on 0191 200 4000 or by email enquiries@ncl-coll.ac.uk who will be able to explain the options available.

Please note, if you are applying from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland you may be subject to different funding rules than students who live in England.
