Overview

This Level 2 Diploma is designed to prepare learners for entry into the construction industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training enviroment using simulated conditions.

This course is for school leavers aged 16-18.

Who the course is for

This is a full time course developed for learners who want to build a career within the crafts of the construction industry and qualify as a roofer.

Course Content

During this course you will cover a range of units designed to prepare you for future employment. The units cover all aspects of RST including:

  • Health & Safety
  • Communication in Construction
  • Construction Technology
  • Install Single Lap Tiles
  • Install Plain Tiles
  • Install Natural Slate
  • Strip & Reclaim Pitched Roof Coverings
  • Install Backgrounds & Ancillary Components
  • Install Pre-formed Flashings

Learning Methods

You will learn through:
•Lectures
•Group work
•Demonstrations
•Discussions
•Hands on practical training and assessment.
 

Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on the learner demonstrating their ability to an agreed standard in practical sessions.  Learners will also need to complete course work to an approved standard, pass unit exams and practiacl synoptic tests.

Entry Requirements

Maths and English grade 2 or 3 / Functional Skills Level 1

If English is not your first language, you will need to pass an English Test with a score of 5.0 or above.

Course Costs

16 to 18s

Learners are eligible for free tuition if they are aged 16-18 when beginning their studies.

If the course being applied for is a two-year qualification, you will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the remainder of the course.

If the course being applied for is two separate one-year qualifications and you begin studying year one of the course aged 18, you will be required to pay fees for the second year.

Please note, if you are applying from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland you may be subject to different funding rules than students who live in England.
