Who the course is for

The Level 6 Award in Strategic Marketing is designed for those in an operational, supervisory or management marketing role with a minimum of 2 years’ experience who are interested in progressing their career in marketing.

This module recognises the significance of situation analysis and introduces techniques for assessing external and internal marketing environments to enable effective decision making. Learners will understand the importance of all stages within the marketing process from audit, through strategic decision making to implementation of plans; and how managing resources, employing monitoring and measuring techniques will enable the achievement of strategic marketing objectives.

Course Content

To achieve the CIM Level 6 Award in Strategic Marketing, a pass in this module is required.

Learning Methods

Supported online learners will have access to our Virtual Learning Environment which provides all course materials and content. Learners can log in at any time as long as they have internet access.

Learners will also have access to a Personal Online Tutor to support them through their studies. Learners will be required to dedicate between 6 – 10 hours flexibly per week.


Assessment Methods

Learners will be assessed by CIM by an examination. Assessment examinations will be sat either at Newcastle College or an external Pitman Training test centre.

Entry Requirements

Learners looking to study this qualification must have at least one of the following:

  • CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing
  • Level 4 qualification in a Marketing related discipline
  • BA (Hons) Degree with a Marketing element
  • Relevant practical work experience.

To ensure that you are studying at the correct level we will ask you to complete a diagnostic assessment as part of the enrolment process. If English is not your first language English language test with an average score of 6.5 and no component under 6 is required.
