Overview
This level 2 Science course is designed to develop basic science and laboratory skills and is an ideal entry point in gaining qualifications in applied science. You will cover topics equalavant to GCSE Science in Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as Psychology and Forensics. The course is practical based with opportunities to improve skills in Science, English and Maths. You will develop technical lab skills specifically linked to science-based employment. You will also enhance your skills in biology, chemistry and physics and gain experience of work. Previously, students have designed and carried out science experiments in local primary schools, providing exciting lessons to young children, gaining valuable experience in teaching and science communication. Students regularly visit employers to understand the demands of the science industry and to see how science is applied in practice. Visits have included Thomas Swan, Piramal and Nestlé. Students have enjoyed field trips to The Eden Project in London and the STEM conference at The Discovery Museum.
