Overview

This new innovative programme focusing on professional management allows you to gain a full BA (Hons) degree in three years. This programme is  aimed specifically at students who are considering an academic qualification and/or Business Management in Practice role within business, or progressing through an organisation

The course involves a high level of personal learning and many of the assessments are set in the context of the students’ area of interest. There is potential to work with professionals from industry who will set live briefs; you will act as business consultants and help recommend solutions to the issues the businesses are facing, as part of this you will be required to set up a LinkedIn profile, helping you to network. As part of the course will be expected to carry out independent research and group research to help support you in your studies

This course is for anyone who wishes to study professional management and would like to progress as a professional manager within their industry, it would also appeal to new managers would like guidance on how to develop and grow as a professional manager.

Learning Methods

You learn in small groups and will be assigned a coach to help support you on your journey with us, both your coach and peers will form a very important part of your learning journey.
Assessment is done through a continuous process and formative and summative assessment will be done through the academic year. Key points in the year will require submission of particular pieces of work. You will be assessment in a variety of practical ways including evidence based assessment, reflections, poster presentations, essays, client engagement, leadership of workshops and discussions.

There will be an expectation that you will be expected to be reflective in your learning and through the process of developing your business idea, you will be expected to function both on an individual basis and in a team

You will be assessed using a variety of methods including, presentations, posters, essays, exams.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to become a professional management within your organisation or to progress academically onto our MBA Business Management programme. Employers are keen to hire professional managers with a professional acumen and value graduates who have developed these skills.
 

Entry Requirements

Mature students (age 21) will be considered only on the basis of relevant industry experience.
A minimum of 64 UCAS Tariff Points at A-level, BTEC QCF Subsidiary, 90 Credit, National or Extended Diploma; Merits in Level 3 Access to HE Diploma, Advanced Apprenticeship.
Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade C in GCSE Maths & English Language or the Level 2 equivalents.
Applicants for whom English Language is not their first language are expected to achieve a minimum English Language Test Score of 5.5 or the nationally recognised equivalent

Course Costs

Higher Education courses

Newcastle College’s tuition fee for full-time undergraduate UK and EU students studying a degree starting in 2019 is £9,000 per year. Students can choose to pay their tuition fees upfront or take out a Tuition Fee Loan from the Student Loans Company, which currently defers payment until individuals earn over £25,000 per year after graduation. Students can apply for student finance by registering their details at gov.uk/studentfinance or alternatively they can apply for student finance on their UCAS application form.
