Course Content

•Cut hair using a combination of techniques
•Creatively colour and lighten hair
•Hairdressing consultation services
•Creatively style and dress hair
•Hair colour correction services
•Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
•Creative hair design skills

Learning Methods

You will learn through a mixture of taught practical and theory sessions, work shops, guest speakers and through gaining skills within a realistic hairdressing salon.

Assessment Methods

This course is assessed by an end synoptic test, this is an externally assessment for the underpinning knowledge and for the practical skills.

Career Opportunities

Achievement of the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing demonstrates to an employer that the individual has the skills and knowledge of health & safety, customer service and also has the necessary advanced cutting, styling, colouring and colour correction skills necessary to be employed as a Senior Stylist.

This qualification could lead to a job as a hairdresser working in one of the following establishments:
• Hair salon
• Spa
• Cruise ship
• Hotel salon

Entry Requirements

Hold a Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing

Have an IELTS score of 5 including reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Attend a presentation and interview with Central Admissions (external applicants only)
Be able to provide one satisfactory reference either from a previous employer or educational establishment (external applicants) 
Ability to commit to excellent attendance is essential, 100% attendance is expected (80% minimum accepted) on this course.

There is a kit and uniform cost associated with this course that will be confirmed by the end of June.

Additional Course Costs

16 to 18s

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1. Additional financial support may also be available for full-time learners, please call our Student Services team on 0191 200 4000 for more information.
