Who the course is for

It is aimed at unemployed people who want to progress into employment. Many people who attend our courses have been unemployed for a significant length of time and need support to enter employment.
Our staff are very supportive and are aware of the barriers that you may face. You will be supported in every aspect of the course to help you succeed and gain a new qualification.

Course Content

Within the course the following is covered:

• Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
• Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
• Introduction to personalisation in social care
• Principles of positive risk taking for individuals with disabilities
• Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
• Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare

Learning Methods

This is a practical course where you will learn through a combination of practical activities combined with taught sessions.
You will participate in group work and individual activities.

Assessment Methods

There are no exams. You will complete a workbook and be assessed through some practical activities.

Progression Opportunities

You can progress into employment or onto one of our other employability courses.

Career Opportunities

You can gain employment in a health and social care setting working with people with learning disabilities in roles such as youth work, care assistant, support assistant.

Entry Requirements

You do not need any qualifications to enrol to this course but you will need a basic level of spoken and written English.
