Overview

This course has been developed in conjunction with employers to ensure it meets the demands of industry. The aim is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience to embark on a successful career at a managerial level within a range of sectors. As part of the course you will develop your business acumen as well as professional skills such as communication and analytical skills to help you take a strategic view of management in organisations. You will consider the factors that drive firms to develop and grow, the challenges of managing people, the impact of digital technologies as well as the promotion of ethical standards. Guest lectures from employers will provide industry expertise to enrich your learning experience.

Who the course is for

This BA (Hons) Business Management degree is suitable for those individuals wishing to study towards a degree and pursue a career in the business sector, or progress onto a teacher training qualification. This BA (Hons) Business Management degree aims to equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience required to work successfully in a range of management related roles.

Learning Methods

You will learn in a variety of ways including work-based learning and e-learning. Learning takes place in classrooms, lecture theatres and the IT teaching suite. You will also participate in lectures, group work and self-directed study. You will be given opportunities to present group work to your peers, developing skills in public speaking and increasing self-confidence.

Assessment Methods

Assessment methods are designed to facilitate learning and a range of methods will be utilised throughout the course including essays, assignments, reports, presentations, case study presentations (both written and spoken), reflective journal and examinations.

Progression Opportunities

You may also wish to progress to study an appropriate Masters degree or pursue a career in teaching through a PGCE qualification.

Career Opportunities

The course provides an ideal platform for you to secure employment on an appropriate graduate scheme on completion of your studies.

Entry Requirements

A relevant Foundation Degree or the Level 5 equivalent (HND, Diploma in Higher Education).
Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade C in GCSE Maths & English Language or the Level 2 equivalents.

Mature students (age 21) will be considered only on the basis of relevant industry experience.
Applicants for whom English Language is not their first language are expected to achieve a minimum IELTS Score of 6.0 or the nationally recognised equivalent.

Course Costs

Higher Education courses

Newcastle College’s tuition fee for full-time undergraduate UK and EU students studying a degree starting in 2019 is £9,000 per year. Students can choose to pay their tuition fees upfront or take out a Tuition Fee Loan from the Student Loans Company, which currently defers payment until individuals earn over £25,000 per year after graduation. Students can apply for student finance by registering their details at gov.uk/studentfinance or alternatively they can apply for student finance on their UCAS application form.
