Who the course is for

The Certificate in Business Accounting is CIMA’s entry level accounting
qualification for students with little or no accounting background.


The certificate level provides you with business experience beyond just financial
accounting and you’ll gain insight into how the different areas of accounting
relate to the business world. Whether you are considering a career in business
and finance, already working and want to further your career or looking to
change careers – you can study the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting no
matter your background.

The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting syllabus has recently been updated
based on extensive global research with industry leaders and educators. The
Certificate in Business Accounting is both a stand alone qualification as well the
start of the route to becoming a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

If you have previous accounting experience or qualifications, you might be eligible

Course Content

The course will consist of four Modules:

  • Fundamentals of Business Economics
  • Fundamentals of Management Accounting
  • Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • Fundamentals of Ethics, corporate governance and business law. 


 

Learning Methods

Supported online learners will have access to our Virtual Learning Environment which provides all course materials and content. Learners can log in at any time as long as they have internet access. Learners will also have access to a Personal Online Tutor to support them through their studies.

Learners will be required to dedicate between 6 –10 hours flexibly per week.
 

Assessment Methods

For all modules, assessments are completed by computer based objective tests at an examination center. An Objective Test is comprised of multiple formats including multiple choice, number entry, drag and drop and other formats.

In modules BA2 and BA3 short scenarios may be provided on which objective test questions will be based on.
 

Progression Opportunities

On completion of this course you will be able to study the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting – Operational Level with Newcastle College Business Academy.
 

Career Opportunities

The career opportunities you would gain through this qualification are: Accounts Assistant | Assistant Accountant | Finance Manager |  Management Accountant.
 

Entry Requirements

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements to study this qualification, learners must understand the level that they are studying at. It is advisable that learner holds GCSE qualifications in Mathematics and English or equivalent. It is also recommended that learners have a background in either business or finance as well as a passion to succeed in business.

It is recommended that all learners contact CIMA prior to commencing studying to ensure they meet all entry requirements for undertaking this qualification as well as to enquire to any available exemptions.
