This advanced course is ideal for people who are already working in accountancy or who have completed a Level 3 AAT qualification and who want to get a recognised qualification for their skills and experience.

You will learn how to carry out a wide range of complex and more technical accountancy tasks and will increase your self-confidence.

AAT qualifications are recognised by employers as providing the highest standard training for accounting technicians. This course will run Monday and Wednesday evenings or Tuesday during the day.

Progression Opportunities

If you are successful and decide to continue your education you could progress to a professional accountancy qualification with exemption from the first level of CIMA and some of the papers at the first level of ACCA.

It may be possible for those students who wish to study for a BA (Hons) in Finance and Accounting to register on a completion award at UNN. Specialise in Taxation with the ATT - Association of Tax Technicians course. A financial degree course is another possibility.

Career Opportunities

You will be able to apply for posts in accountancy practices, industry, commerce and the public sector.

Entry Requirements

This is a very challenging course and you need to be committed, enthusiastic and prepared to study in your own time.

You need to be at least 18 years old and should normally have achieved one of the following:

  •  An NVQ level 3 in Accounting or the AAT Advanced Certificate in Accounting
  • A recognised degree in a related subject approved by the AAT

If English is not your first language you will also need an IELTS score 6 or above. An Interview is a requirement for this course.

Exam fees are included in course fees. There is an additional cost where re-sits are required.

Text books required for the year: £106

All AAT students are required to register as student members of the Association. The registration fee payable is in addition to the course fees. Currently this is £88.
