Course Content

The course is a 45 credit extended certificate with subjects such as:

  • The Engineered World
  • Investigating an Engineered Product
  • Mathematics for Engineering
  • Electrical and Mechanical Science For Engineering
  • Engineering Design
  • Machining Techniques
  • Health & Safety in Engineering
  • Interpreting and using Engineering Information

You will also follow a programme of study to complement this award including functional skills, Maths and English and Experience of Work.

Progression Opportunities

You may wish to progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in a relevant subject, or undertake a modern apprenticeship scheme within the sector.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs A-D / 9- 3 or equivalent Pass level, including Maths and Science.  If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 5.0 or above.  You will also have to complete the engineering induction programme.

Additional Course Costs

16 to 18s

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1.
