Overview
This course has been designed for those wishing to advance their professional practice in musical theatre. The course caters to those who wish to gain an honours degree having already studied a Foundation Degree (or equivalent) or have extensive experience within the industry. The course is predominately vocational and students receive equal amounts of dance, acting and singing technique which is linked with the current market and industry standards.
The programme also delivers academic studies such as research and dissemination, which will enable students to use their theoretical knowledge of musical theatre and develop their own area of study/practice. You will build your acting/dance and singing skills and understand what repertoire you suit for auditions or other employment routes. You will also be taught a range of audition techniques to help you in your future career paths.

Musical theatre is a multi-disciplinary art form and within this course you will be given a ‘real world’ experience by becoming a member of The Company. The highly disciplined environment of The Company is designed to promote ‘work-readiness’. As well as being a performer, all Company members will have an off-stage role (to encourage transferable and other employability skills), leading acting, singing or dance rehearsals, becoming a coach to support skills development in acting, singing or dancing, working alongside technical support, contributing to the creativity of a production and working alongside staff and students. You will gain hands-on experience of what it takes to work in any field of musical theatre.
Who the course is for
Foundation degree graduates from Newcastle College or other institutions. Professionals who are seeking to complete their academic study or industry representatives who would like to upskill by gaining recognition of their skills via our RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) route.
The course caters to those who wish to perform, teach, and work in Musical Theatre in any aspect. The course is a unique blend of vocational training and academic study.
