Clearing

Clearing at Newcastle College begins on Thursday 19 August when our limited courses vacancies will be listed through UCAS – www.ucas.com.

Clearing at Newcastle College allows you to find out more about courses that suit you following your exam results. It may also be an opportunity to apply if you have just decided you would like to study a full-time Higher Education course at Newcastle College that starts in September 2010.

What you need to do next?

  • From Thursday 19 August 2010 you can see any Higher Education course vacancies at Newcastle College on the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) website at www.ucas.com If you have not already applied through UCAS you will need to do so after this date.

  • Take some time to consider which one of our courses you would like to study by visiting www.newcastlecollege.co.uk

  • If you are interested in one of the course vacancies listed at Newcastle College please email Paul Sisterson, UCAS Officer: paul.sisterson@ncl-coll.ac.uk with your UCAS Personal ID No and the UCAS Code for the course you are interested in.

Please note that applying through UCAS does not guarantee you a place at Newcastle College. The College will make an offer of a place on a course this September subject to an appropriate application through UCAS, and course audition or interview.

What Newcastle College will do next?

  • If you apply for one of our courses in Art and Design or Music and Performing Arts, where appropriate to do so, we will contact you by mobile phone then email you with details of your audition or interview.

  • If you have applied for a course in Business and Enterprise, Health and Community Services, the Lifestyle Academy, Applied Science or Construction we will endeavour to contact you, by mobile or email, to discuss this with you.

  • However we would appreciate your patience as this is a very busy time of year.

Is Newcastle College your first course choice?

Once you have received your results you can confirm that you have your place at Newcastle College through UCAS Track - www.ucas.com.  You can access UCAS Track from the morning of Thursday 19 August onwards.

If you have met the conditions of our original offer, UCAS will automatically send you confirmation of your place on the course this September.  Shortly thereafter you will receive joining instructions from the relevant School Office.

If you have not met the conditions of the offer, the College will now review your original application through UCAS with a view to making a decision as to whether you can be offered a place this September. The course leader may well want to interview you again before making this decision.

If, however, you have not met the conditions of our offer and the College has decided not to offer you a place this September, you will automatically be accepted by the institution at which you are holding a conditional-insurance offer subject to you meeting the terms this University or College made through UCAS. In the circumstances please check UCAS ‘Track’ from 19 August on or contact the institution directly.

Is Newcastle College your second insurance choice?

Even if you are successful in gaining a place at your first course choice, Newcastle College will automatically accept you, if the conditions of the original offer through UCAS are met, onto your second-insurance course choice. If, however, you have not met the conditions of this offer please check with UCAS ‘Track’ to confirm whether you have been offered a place.

If a decision has not been made please e-mail our UCAS Officer Paul Sisterson: paul.sisterson@ncl-coll.ac.uk

Adjustment 2010:

In achieving the conditions of the offer of your first choice course you may have better results than the course requires.

UCAS allows you five days, from the date Newcastle College confirms your place, in which to register and secure an alternative course at another institution.

During this five day period your place will remain secure at Newcastle College.
