Guide to Student Finance 2012 entry
The following information about tuition fees and financial support relates to 2012 entry. Changes may apply to individual entrants.
Full-Time Courses
New Full-Time students
New Full-Time students in 2012/13 or students returning to a new course after a break or Gap Year will be paying tuition fees of £5,800.
Full-Time second and third year students
Full-Time second and third year students who paid a variable fee of £3,080* in 2011/12 will pay a similar fee in 2012/13.
Full-Time third year students progressing from Foundation Degree
Full-Time third year students who paid a variable fee of £2,620* in 2011/12 will pay similar tuition fees in 2012/13. These will be students progressing from a Foundation Degree at Newcastle College to a full degree at Newcastle College without a break or Gap Year.
New Full-Time students enrolling on a top-up or 3 year Degree programme who already have a full First Degree qualification
New Full-Time students enrolling on a top-up or 3 year Degree programme who already have a full First Degree qualification who paid tuition fees of £4,615* in 2011/12 will pay a similar fee in 2012/13. NB Currently this does not apply to students with a prior degree enrolling on a Foundation Degree.

Financial Support Full-Time Study 2012
Government funding for students
Tuition fee loan
Available to UK and EU students entering Higher Education for the first time.
Student loan for living costs
Available to UK students, partly on basis of family income.
Maintenance grant
Available to UK students, on basis of family income.
Disabled Students Allowance
Helps disabled students meet additional study costs.

Part Time Courses
2012 Entry
New Part-Time students in 2012
New part time students in 2011/12 paid £205 per 20 credits e.g. 120 credits for 2011, e.g. a tuition fee of £1,230*. New Part time students in 2012/13 will pay a similar fee.
Part-Time students continuing on the same qualification as 11/12
Part time second/third year students continuing on the same qualification as 11/12 and who paid a fee last year of £715 will pay a tuition fee of £733*.

Please note: Whilst part-time students will still have to pay tuition fees, from September 2012 onwards new part-time students can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover your tuition costs.

Full-Time Courses
New Full Time students
New Full-Time students in 2011 or students returning to a new course after a break or Gap Year will pay a tuition fee of £3,080*.
Full-Time second and third year students
Full-Time second and third year students who paid a variable fee of £3,000 in 10/11 will pay a tuition fee of £3,080*.
Full-Time third year students
Full-Time third year students who paid a variable fee of £2,550 in 10/11 will pay tuition fees of £2,620*. These will be students progressing from a Foundation Degree at Newcastle College to a full degree at Newcastle College without a break or Gap Year.
New Full-Time students enrolling on a top-up or 3 year Degree programme who already have a full First Degree qualification

Non-repayable bursaries
2011 Entry
If you are starting a higher education course in September 2011, are eligible for Higher Education Statutory Support and/or you are paying tuition fees of £3,080, you will be eligible for a Newcastle College bursary of either £1,200 or £600, depending on the support you get. Normally you WILL NOT have to have to pay back this bursary.
All students will be eligible to apply for a bursary of £600 in year 1 of their study and in subsequent years based on achievement. Please download our ‘A guide to student finance 2011’ above for more information.
Some students, whose residual household income entitles them to the full Maintenance Grant, may receive an additional sum of up to £600 per year – providing a maximum bursary of £1,200 per year.
Full Time third year students who paid a variable fee of £2,550 in 10/11 may be eligible for a bursary of either £1,070 or £535. These will be students progressing from a Foundation Degree at Newcastle College to a full degree at Newcastle College without a break or Gap Year.
To apply: Please complete a bursary application form, available on request from September 2011, and return it in person to Student Services at Rye Hill House. Your application will then be fully assessed by our dedicated team.
