Which level is right for me?
You can study at any one of three levels, depending on your GCSE results. When you apply we’ll invite you in to talk to us in more detail about your options.
- Entry Level and Level 1 - If you don’t pass your GCSEs, or perhaps don’t get the grades you had expected, then you can make a fresh start with an Entry Level or Level 1 course.
Level 2 - If you gain four GCSEs at grade D or above or equivalent at Pass level, you can usually go straight onto a Level 2 course.
Level 3 - If you gain four to five or more GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent at Pass level, you can usually enter directly at Level 3.
If you don’t get the grades you need to do the course you want, don’t worry. No matter what level you start at, if you successfully complete the course at Newcastle College you can then progress to the next level. So if you don’t get the grades you need to start a Level 3 course, you can study a one-year Level 2 course and then progress the following year.
