Facilities

All courses are delivered at the Newcastle College Energy Academy, based on the banks of the river Tyne in Wallsend. The facility consists of:

  • welding bays

  • fabrication facilities

  • MMA, MIG and TIG welding

  • plasma cutting facilities

  • testing for 1KW turbines

  • solar panel testing (photovoltaic and water type)

  • engineering workshops

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD) facilities.

Newcastle College has close links to companies involved in the manufacturing of wind turbine technology and the fitting and maintenance of offshore installations. As a renewable and subsea student you’ll benefit from site visits to engineering companies and guest lectures from industry experts. Newcastle College has also formed a partnership with AIS, a leading provider of on-shore and offshore training for the oil, gas and renewable sector. This opens up a range of extra curriculum opportunities for college students.
