Study automotive at Newcastle College

Automotive courses at Newcastle College help set you up for a career as a vehicle technician, refinisher or body repairer. As an automotive student you’ll be based at the Newcastle College Automotive Centre where you’ll benefit from first-class training that is a balanced combination of theory and practical hands-on experience.

Facilities

Our dedicated automotive facilities include:

  • light vehicle maintenance facility with electronic diagnostic test equipment (Snap-On)

  • tyre and exhaust replacement bays

  • computerised paint mixing (water based) and spray painting booth (Jun Air)

  • vehicle body repair equipment including MIG & TIG welding sets, computerized vehicle measuring and straightening jigs (Car-o-Liner)

  • mobile air conditioning rigs

  • Hawk Eye wheel alignment system.

A range of automotive employers support students through work placements and industry insight. We work with organisations such as Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, LuK (UK) Ltd, DENSO and Motorsport Development. Automotive students also attend the Institute for the Motor Industry (IMI) events which are held regularly throughout the academic year.
