Creative Media Production case study

Willem Evans - Diploma Creative Media Production

“I am from Newcastle but my parents are originally from London. I studied my GCSE’s and A Levels at Heaton Manor School. I wanted to study a more vocational and hands on course. It was my Mum who told me about the College, so I looked online at the courses the College offered. The creative media production course looked practical and included loads of media stuff that I wanted to study.

I have always had a strong interest in film making. I have been part of the Northern Stars Film Academy at the Tyneside Cinema for a number of years now and this gave me inspiration to sign up to the course. I received financial support from the College which helped towards the course costs. This was very helpful as some of the equipment needed to succeed on the course is quite expensive. It could hinder your studies if this funding was not available and you weren’t able to afford the equipment yourself.

To people thinking of studying at Newcastle College, it’s definitely worth your time! There are so many great staff here who really know what they are talking about. My course has been really well put together. We have worked in the TV studio, on short films, on documentaries and on animation. Having had the chance to work on a good mixture of different areas is great.”
