Uniformed Public Services case study

Kirsty Wright - Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Uniform Public Services

“I went to St Thomas More Roman Catholic School; school was okay but I knew that I wanted to join the Navy. I had been in the cadets since I was 14 years old. I looked around for myself to find the best college that offered what I wanted to do. It wasn’t long before I found out that Newcastle College offer the best uniformed public services course in the North East of England. They also have great links to the Army and Navy.

Invaluable, is how I would describe the tutors and mentors support. Because of their support and advice I have really grown in confidence and I have joined the Royal Navy Reserve. They have seen me develop from a shy young girl into a confidence determined young women. I have been given loads of opportunities to gain experience and I have been on a number of days out, where I have learnt new skills and pushed myself to be involved in new activities.

I would say to anyone looking at places to study definitely choose Newcastle College as it gives you a good head start. The course tutors and staff at the College are really helpful and support you throughout. They give you the push you need to achieve your goals.”
