Automotive case study

Andrew Drape - Level 2 Automotive Maintenance and Repair

“I went to Walker Technology College for my GCSEs and A Levels. I knew I wanted to work within the automotive sector but I wasn’t sure on which route to take as there are so many. I looked around at the colleges in the area to see what was on offer. When I came to Newcastle College’s open evening, I knew as soon as I walked through the door that it was the right place for me.

The automotive tutors were at the open evening and they had all the course information I needed and they gave me real advice as they know exactly what is involved in the course.

The College have encouraged me to gain as much experience as I can. I attended the IMI skills show at Jaguar Land Rover, which was a great experience. It tested my knowledge and skills and I got to meet professionals and other students in the field. The College have also helped arrange my apprenticeship at Elliot MOT. At first it was a strange environment coming from education but it was really exciting. I have gained so much experience and my customer service skills have improved."
