International Foundation Programme
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is an Access to Higher Education Diploma for students (aged 18 and above) who would like to go on to study at a university or college. It is a nationally recognised qualification, fully awarded by Ascentis and accepted by most institutions for academic progression.
This course represents a step toward a higher education place at degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) level. The IFP is specifically designed to be challenging with emphasis on gaining qualifications while developing invaluable skills, knowledge and confidence.
Newcastle College is one of the largest Further and Higher Education College’s in the UK with over 18,000 students. Our international student population comprises of students from over 60 different countries and we are proud to be a Higher Education Institution (HEI) with a Tier 4 Sponsor Licence. Our students benefit from over 100 years UK teaching experience and outstanding facilities located within the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, a beautiful cosmopolitan city, located in the North East of England. We have also been awarded Beacon status in recognition of our excellent teaching and learning experience - one of only 19 Colleges to achieve such status.
Our IFP offers a range of pathways each designed so students can progress to a degree in their subject area of choice. It is vital you research your desired degree course and preferred institution fully, so you are sure the IFP pathway and modules meet the Entry Requirements of the degree you want to study.
Each student also completes a mandatory HE Study Skills unit covering learning methods and personal development.

IFP course details
Start dates: September 2017 Course duration: 10 months
Campus locations: Rye Hill and Riverside Dene (city centre locations) Tuition Fee: UK £6,500
Management reports, presentations, case studies, peer assessment, work-based projects assignments and examinations.
Teaching is delivered via lectures, tutorials and independent learning. Students are encouraged to develop practical skills by undertaking challenging and rewarding projects and assignments.
Students will be assessed on their high school education qualifications using UK NARIC, their personal statement and English language ability.
The IFP (Access to Higher Education Diploma) is a well-recognised and respected qualification, accepted for entry by leading universities and colleges. Having gained these qualifications many students have gone on to study at the following universities also based in the north east of England: Newcastle University, Durham University, Northumbria University, Teesside University and the University of Sunderland. Outside of the region students have progressed to numerous prestigious institutions including: University of York, University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh, Plymouth University, City University London, Keele University, University of Leeds, Liverpool John Moores, Birmingham City University, Lancaster University, Royal Holloway University of London, Southampton University, Aberdeen University and University of Sheffield.
