Nightlife

Newcastle is famous for its superb pub culture and includes many lively and friendly bars, as well as the more traditional pubs where you can enjoy a quiet drink and conversation. From the up and coming Mosley Street to Osborne Road in Jesmond, you’ll find an array of bars and nightclubs bursting with style and glamour.

Culture

Newcastle benefits from some breathtaking culture within the city and within a short travel distance. You can explore the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, The Sage Gateshead or one of the many art galleries and museums located in the city centre. A short 20 minute trip out of the city takes you to the coast, where you’ll find Tynemouth and Whitely Bay. Here you can stroll along the sandy beaches at your own pace, try your hand at surfing or simply stand back and admire the sea views.

Shopping

Newcastle is the fifth largest shopping destination in Great Britain with over 40 million people visiting our shops each year. You will find everything from haute couture and urban streetwear to high street chic all within easy access. For serious retail therapy you can head to the Metrocentre Gateshead, Europe’s largest indoor shopping centre which is a 10 minute train ride away.

Music and bands

Newcastle is at the forefront of the modern music scene in terms of venues and concerts, from the Metro Radio Arena holding 10,000, to the O2 Academy which hosts a great range of gigs including well known bands and up-and-coming talent. Newcastle City Hall also plays centre stage to world renowned rock and pop bands, comedians and popular musicals. This vibrant music scene has something to suit all tastes.

Transport

Newcastle benefits from a low cost, quick transport link - the Metro, so you can see everything the local area has to offer. Newcastle also has its own international airport and major train station both with excellent links.
