Study a music degree at Newcastle College

The flexible nature of our music Foundation Degree means that you’re able to study modules across a range of pathways including composition, DJ and electronic music, music production, performance and sound engineering or focus on one pathway depending on your area of interest. We also offer a BA (Hons) Creative Enterprise (Top-Up) degree which will enable you to build on your skills at Foundation Degree level.

Facilities

Our music course is delivered in our Performance Academy which is recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects. As a music student you’ll have access to:

  • three music venues on campus
  • eight recording studios including our five pro suites
  • extensive sequencing labs
  • rehearsal studios
  • a dedicated music store with high-tech equipment for performance and recording.


Study with us and you could:

  • gain valuable work experience at our fully operational record label, Push Puzzle Records in a variety of roles such as A&R, promotions and production. You could also get the chance to be a signed, touring and internationally distributed artist.
  • benefit from industry insight from guest speakers.
  • go on to work within the music industry upon graduation in roles such as a recording artist, DJ, music journalist, acoustic engineer and live sound engineer to name a few. Three former students are now working as part of the crew for singer/songwriter James Bay’s worldwide tour as a sound engineer, monitor engineer and lighting designer. Other graduates have progressed into the music industry as recording artists and DJ’s with a number setting up their own companies
