Why did you choose to stay at Newcastle College?
I have been studying at Newcastle College since starting Level 2 Beauty Therapy and I have received so much support from staff which is one of the reasons I have continued to study here. Plus the facilities are great. There is a really relaxed atmosphere at the College which for me makes it a great place to study.

Why did you choose the course?
I have always known that my passion involves both business studies and the beauty industry, I chose to progress onto the degree course as it really does set you up to work in the industry. The tutors are highly motivated they give you all the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the qualification. They also encourage you to get as much experience as possible, all working towards getting us ready for employment.

What are the facilities like at the College?
The facilities at the College are so advanced. I am passionate about advanced skin care aesthetics and the College has the latest equipment, with a range of treatments rooms and machinery, including a laser hair removal system and skin resurfacing technologies. Not many colleges can say they have such advanced resources.

What do you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoy the challenge of all the different aspects of the course including the assessments. Through undertaking a range of assessments such as presentation pitches, my personality and confidence has grown.

Have you had the opportunity to go on a work placement as part of your degree?
I have really enjoyed my work placements getting as much experience and insight into the industry as possible. I have worked within The Retreat, the College’s own beauty salon and spa, Gleneagles Hotel and Ramside Hall Spa. Through the work placements I have improved my communication skills and feel much more confident when dealing with clients and I do believe this confidence will help me when I come to find a job.

How would you describe the staff at the College?
The college staff are very approachable and supportive. If you are struggling they are there for you.

What are your plans after your course?
I plan to progress onto the Business Management (Top-Up) degree, along with looking at further placement opportunities and internships.
