Newcastle College University Centre Graduation 2024

Graduation ceremonies will take place on Thursday 11 July and Friday 12 July 2024. 

The specific details are listed above for each ceremony. 

All Graduation ceremonies take place at Newcastle Civic Centre, Sandyford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8PU.

Graduation tickets are now on sale! Ticket sales are open until 12pm Tuesday 28th May for student and guest tickets. 

The start time for your Graduation ceremony will vary depending on which ceremony you are attending.

Details of the specific timings of each ceremony are detailed in the Graduation information letters which you can access above. 

Every graduating student will need to buy a £37 student ticket for themselves. The ticket cost includes the price of hiring a cap, gown and hood for your Graduation ceremony.

Guest tickets can be purchased at £12 each. 

You can book up to two guest tickets for your Graduation ceremony. Depending on ticket sales and capacity, additional guest tickets may become available but this is not guaranteed.

Yes - each guest must have a guest ticket to attend the Graduation ceremony, no matter their age. This is because we work to a strict number capacity which is dictated by Newcastle Civic Centre.

All guest tickets are priced at £12 each. We recommend children under the age of four years old do not attend the Graduation ceremonies due to the length and formal nature of the ceremony.

No - unfortunately, there is no waiting list for extra guest tickets.

If additional guest tickets become available (depending on ticket sales and event capacities), graduating students will receive an email informing them of the new ticket release. Additional guest tickets are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

No - unfortunately, guest tickets are non-transferable.

No - there is strictly no entry to Newcastle Civic Centre without a valid ticket for your Graduation ceremony.

To gain entry to the Graduation Hall, all guests must produce a valid ticket (digital or printed) to be scanned by our Graduation Team. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Please note it is your responsibility to ensure your guests have their tickets to present at the venue on the day. Tickets are non-transferable and can only be accepted once.

Gown hire is £37. This price includes your mortar board (cap) and hood, all of which are part of your student ticket.

Gowns are available for collection from Newcastle Civic Centre on the day of your Graduation ceremony. You are required to return these within 30 minutes of your ceremony ending. 

No - you must return your cap, gown and hood within 30 minutes of your Graduation ceremony ending. The £37 cost is only to hire your gown for the duration of your ceremony.

Yes - you can book your photography package with Academy Graduations.

Yes - you can take personal photos during the Graduation ceremony.

However, we ask that you be considerate of other guests while taking pictures, and not to disrupt any speeches.

Yes - light refreshments will be served after each Graduation ceremony and an on-site bar is available which is manned by Newcastle Civic Centre staff.

No - unfortunately, there is no on-site parking available at Newcastle Civic Centre.

While parking in Newcastle City Centre is limited, nearby car parks include multi-storeys at John Dobson Street, Eldon Gardens, Percy Street (near John Lewis), The Gate (Stowell Street) and there is a small car park near the City Hall.

Please allow plenty of time for parking on the day of your Graduation ceremony.

No. You should contact Credit Control (email: creditcontrol@ncgrp.co.uk) if you are still in receipt of reminder statements and your IT/Library accounts are blocked.

It is recommended that you dress smartly and wear something with a button front to attach your graduation hood. It is also recommended you wear appropriate and comfortable footwear as you will need to walk up a few stairs onto the stage to collect your award.

Registration takes place in the main entrance of Newcastle Civic Centre. There will be signs to direct you to the appropriate building, and our Graduation Team will tell you where to go upon arrival.

No - you will receive a blank scroll during the ceremony for photography purposes only. Your actual certificate will be posted to your home address later.

You will need to email graduation@ncl-coll.ac.uk detailing your student number and new address.

No - if you fail your degree, you will not be able to attend graduation.

If you have already paid for tickets, you will need to contact graduation@ncl-coll.ac.uk to discuss your refund. 

Yes - your guests can arrive at the same time as you at Newcastle Civic Centre.

However, we ask that only the graduating student checks in at the registration desk, and we ask you collect your gown on your own, as the front desk can get very busy. Your guests can wait for you either in the foyer or in the park outside Newcastle Civic Centre.

Please bring your order confirmation email and all tickets purchased, either in digital or printed formats, as you will need to be checked into the venue by our Graduation Team.
