This course is for anyone who has already completed a level 2 in Beauty Therapy and wishes to have a professional career in the beauty and spa industry.

Course Content

Promote and sell products and services to clients.

Anatomy and Physiology.

Body massage including pre-blended aromatherapy oils and use of thermogenic stones.

Facial and body electrotherapy.

Spa Treatments

Electrical Epilation

Learning Methods

You will learn technical skills and underpinning knowledge through a range of inside and outside the classroom learning such as visits, guest speakers and realistic working environments.

Assessment Methods

You will be assessed through practical observation, oral questions, written projects, discussions, presentations and external online examinations
Please be aware that due to awarding body regulations your finished portfolio must be made available, if requested, up to three years after your course has been completed.

Career Opportunities

You could work in a spa or beauty salon, health spa, cruise liner or gym with spa facilities. After five years’ industrial experience, you could progress to lecturing/training.

Entry Requirements

• You must attend an interview with Student Services (external applicants)
• Attend a presentation and interview with course tutor
• Have a Level 2 in Beauty or equivalent qualification. You will also need a reference from your L2 personal tutor which confirms that you have met targets, have good time management, attendance and punctuality, and a positive attitude to your studies. (This qualification could have been achieved part time or full time)
• Excellent attendance is required (100% expected, minimum 90% acceptable)
• If required you must be prepared to study towards Functional Skills Numeracy, Literacy or GCSE Mathematics and English.
• If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 5.5 or above
• Full dexterity, good eyesight (with or without contact lens, glasses or other).
• Students with disabilities will be assessed on an individual basis to confirm their suitability for the course

Additional Course Costs

16 to 18s

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1. Additional financial support may also be available for full-time learners, please call our Student Services team on 0191 200 4000 for more information.
