This programme has been specifically designed to give young people the necessary skills to begin their career in Roofing.
It will cover a range of Roofing disciplines and activities which are needed when working within the sector

Course Content

The course is a 37 credit certificate in subjects such as:
• Health Safety and Welfare in Construction
• Knowledge of Technical Information, Quantities and Communicating with others
• Knowledge of Technology in the Construction industry
• Install Roofing Backgrounds and Ancillary Components
• Install Single-Lap Roof Covering to Basic Roof Details
• Strip and Reclaim Single-Lap Roof Tiles
 

You will also follow a programme of study to complement this award including Functional Skills, Maths and English and Experience of Work.

• Assessment work also forms an important part of the course.
 

Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification, Knowledge, course work and testing with specialist practical Synoptic Assignments.

Progression Opportunities

You may wish to progress to Level 2 Roof Slate and tile Diploma or undertake a modern apprenticeship scheme within the sector.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course. You will have a diagnostic assessment in the induction week for Maths and English.

If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 5.0 or above.

Additional Course Costs

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1.
