Overview

ECDL Extra is part 2 of the standard qualification recognised throughout Europe, for competence in computing. You'll learn theory and practice relating to many aspects of Computing and Information Technology. You will be using MS Office 2010 software while you are progressing through the course.

Who the course is for

This course is for anyone with some experience of using a computer who would like to extend their practical skills and gain a qualification.

You are required to undertake a minimum of 4 hours independent learning at home per week on a pc or a laptop.
 

This course is Web based - you will not need to have MS Office 2010 installed on your pc or laptop to access your course resources but you will require a broadband internet connection.

Word processing

Develops the learner’s ability to create word-processed documents: entering text, editing and formatting work, using graphs, tables and pictures for a professional finish, and effectively using tools such as the spell-checker and mail merge.


Spreadsheet software

Helps the learner develop a working knowledge of spreadsheets, from entering data and formatting worksheets, to creating charts and producing high-quality documents.


Presentation software

Shows the learner how to produce high-quality presentations using a variety of tools including charts, graphs and drawn objects.


Improving productivity


Using IT Enables the learner to work more effectively with IT. This unit looks at using tools to save time and effort when producing word processed documents, presentations and spreadsheets
 

Learning Methods

You will learn in our well-equipped computer workshops at an individual basis with thesupport of a tutor when required.


You will work through each course module completing assessments as you progress followed by a diagnostic assessment which will indicate if you are ready to sit the related live module test - all of the course, assessment and test resources are online.

Entry Requirements

All applicants must attend an induction prior to enrolment to ensure this course is suitable to meet your needs. 

Before you enrol you must have completed Level 1 Award BCS ECDL Essentials or Level 1 Certificate BCS Flexiqual and have significant experience of using Microsoft Office software (if you are unsure, please contact us to discuss).

If English is not your first language you will also need an IELTS score 6 or above
