General Core Units

  • Occupation Specific Units
  • Synoptic Practical Assignment
  • Multiple Choice Unit End Tests
  • Online Testing of Knowledge.

You will also be required to complete Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English, unless you already have the relevant qualifications.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirements of the qualification.

Knowledge course work and testing with specialist practical Synoptic Assignments.

Progression Opportunities

Move onto the Diploma Level 2, which is a full time course or onto an apprenticeship when you will come back to college through the NVQ route

Career Opportunities

This Diploma Level 1 qualification will prepare you to either progress to the Diploma Level 2 full time course or into a working apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Suitable if you don't have any qualifications.

You will have already attended an interview and Summer School induction prior to enrolment. 

If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 5.0 or above.

Additional Course Costs

16 to 18s

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1. Additional financial support may also be available for full-time learners, please call our Student Services team on 0191 200 4000 for more information.
