This qualification is for those wanting to enter the Plumbing industry. It gives you the opportunity to develop some essential core skills and knowledge.

Who the course is for

This course is designed for new entrants into the Plumbing and Heating Industry.

The course is intended for those individuals who have not yet gained employment in the industry but, wish to develop their skills.

Qualification Gained

If you successfully complete all elements of the programme you will gain a C&G Diploma Level 1 in Plumbing Studies.

Course Content

If you are enrolled on the Plumbing qualification you will study installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, above ground drainage, pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel) and plumbing science.

There are also an additional set of units that must be achieved based around Building Services Engineering, these are Structure of the construction industry, environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings and site preparation in the construction industry.
 

Learning Methods

You will learn through practical demonstrations, lectures and theory lessons.

Assessment Methods

Learners will be expected to demonstrate safe level of practical competence together with understanding of underpinning knowledge.

This will be done through both online exams and assessment based assignments.

Progression Opportunities

On successful completion of the course you will have the opportunity to progress onto either our Level 2 & 3 Plumbing or Electrical Installation qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Whilst are no formal entry requirements applicants with GCSE, s at C or above in Maths, English & Science would be desirable, however  applicants will carry out a brief interview and aptitude test prior to any offer.

Additional Course Costs

16 to 18s

Tuition is free for learners aged 16 to 18. A learner will continue to be eligible for free tuition for the duration of their qualification, this includes Year 2 of a qualification if the learner was aged 16-18 when they started in Year 1. Additional financial support may also be available for full-time learners, please call our Student Services team on 0191 200 4000 for more information.
