Overview

As a CIPD Approved Centre you will get a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required of a professional HRD practitioner.

The Foundation Certificate in Human Resource Practice (CHRP) provides a firm foundation in all the areas of Human Resource Practice including its impact on business sustainability.

It will help you develop essential skills and give you the confidence to be more effective at work and add value to your HR or training function.

The Certificate in Human Resource Practice is Foundation-level qualification and is designed to reflect the CIPD HR Profession Map and the new professional membership criteria and standards.

Who the course is for

  • Those who are new to HR.
  • Individuals who are interested in a career move into HR.
  • Those who are working in HR in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • Line managers who are involved in HR and those who have responsibility for HR activities and decisions without a specialist function.
  • HR staff who do not have enough experience or qualifications to undertake the CIPD Intermediate Diploma or Advanced level programmes.

Course Content

All students study:

Core units (all 10 credits):

  • Developing yourself as an effective HR & L&D practitioner
  • Understanding organisations and the role of HR
  • Recording, analysing and using HR information

Optional units (18 credits):

Would be included as standalone or as Intergrated Report, covering:

  • Resourcing Talent
  • Supporting good practice in performance and reward management
  • Support Change within organisations
  • Undertaking a Learning Needs Analysis

  • Private study (approximately 40 hours per month)
  • CIPD seminars /guest speakers on current HR issues and topics

 

Assessment Methods

Assessment is continuous and is based on a range of methods, reports, essay, presentations, discussions, observation, skills activity, workplace evidence, witness statements, reflective log and a CPD record and plan.

Progression Opportunities

Completion of the CHRP provides the  Associate professional level of CIPD membership.

If you then have the relevant experience you can apply for a Professional membership assessment (assessing your workplace activities and behaviours).

If successful with the assessment you’ll be upgraded to new Associate and able to use the “Assoc CIPD” designation after your name.

 

Career Opportunities

Successful students can progress to a higher level programme in HR, CIPD Intermediate Certificate/Diploma in HRD (level 5), and CIPD Post-Graduate Advanced Certificate/ Diploma in HRD (Level 7), alongside one year “Top up Degrees” in Business, HRM

Entry Requirements

You need to be at least 18 years old and have a responsibility or access to HR or HRD (personnel or training) in your organisation. You should have GCSE English at Grade C.

If English is not your first language you will also need an IELTS 6. All potential students are required to have an interview with the course leader prior to start.

Course Costs

£1,250 for the one year programme plus Professional Membership and registration fees.
