LAN Server Administration and Virtualisation
This module will introduce you to the concepts of virtualisation and how it can support a growing server infrastructure, as well as building the skills required to setup and administer a windows active directory domain infrastructure.
Network and Computer Systems
This module introduces the learner to the concepts of networking and the protocols required for digital age communication, including the OSI 7 layer model and the TCP/IP model.
Network security explores the dangers and threats that are posed when using computers and networks as well as exploring the ways these can be mitigated.
Routing Protocols and Concepts
This module builds upon the concepts of the networking and computer systems module by introducing routing and routing protocols, how to design and build a geographically separated network adding security.
Academic Study Skills
The aim of this module is to develop your academic skills to enable you to meet the requirements of study at HE and to develop the specialist study skills relevant to your programme of study and professional aspirations
In this module you will develop the skills to reflect on your own learning. You will be supported to plan your own career development and personal education required to have a successful career in your chosen sector.
Work Related Learning
The aim of this module is to provide an opportunity for you to understand and reflect on practices and issue within the networking industry, identifying the knowledge and skills required to carry out work related projects and recognise areas of strength and weakness that will enable you to prepare an action plan for further development to support your career aspirations.
Disaster Recovery Management
The aim of this module is to present you with the idea of business continuity and disaster recovery to ensure that the business can continue in the case of a disaster such as fire or cyber-attack.
LAN Switching and Wireless
LAN switching explores how to setup and program switches to ensure redundancy and security in a network design while the wireless explores the implementation of large scale wireless network into a network design.
WAN Server Administration and Virtualisation
This module builds upon the concepts from your first year but introduces you to WAN servers such as exchange and the setup and management of such WAN services.
WAN Technologies and Network Design
The aim of this module is to provide you with the technical skills to create WAN service networks such as frame relay and MPLS as well as investigate the top down network design principles.
The aim of this module is to provide a structured and supported process for you to review your employability and transferable skills and further options to study against the professional requirements for your chosen sector or industry.
Work Based Learning
The aim of this module is to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of an appropriate work context and apply your knowledge and skills to a work place issue or problem which you have identified.
