Up to five year part time programme with an opportunity to undertake work experience in various beauty therapy/spa organisations. The aim is to develop a range of beauty therapy and spa skills and a knowledge of management which will enable the graduate to manage beauty therapy/spa businesses. There may be early starts/late finishes involved in this course.

- satisfactory reference
- reasonable IT skills (it may be necessary to study the ECDL IT qualification alongside)
- in line with professional practices, students will be required to wear professional salon wear during practical sessions.
- students without recent appropriate academic experience may be required to write an essay to demonstrate ability to study at level 4.
- if English is not your first language you will need a minimum of 1 ELTS score or 5.5
Additional Requirements
- students must wear salon uniform- black tunic/ trousers/skirts, black indoor footwear as appropriate.
- nails must be short and without polish.
- students must have full dexterity and be able to stand and lean for long periods of time.
- a good standard of personal hygiene and appearance is essential, as well as the ability to communicate well and to work effectively with others.
- candidates must be willing to carry out treatments on each other and receive treatments.
- no jewellery or facial piercing may be worn in the salon environment.
- must be able to provide paying clients for practical assessments.
- 100% attendance is expected

Foundation Degree in Beauty Therapy and Spa Management
On completion of the course you could progress to a completion year which will convert your foundation degree to a Degree at Level 6.

You will need to purchase a standard professional dress for work in the salon (£40-90) – recommend that you buy 2 and shoes (£21-£25). (If not already purchased from previous course). You will also need to purchase a Spa kit priced at approximately £70
All part time Higher Education students now have to pay tuition fees. If you are a new student or are enrolling on to a new course, such as a part time top up degree, your fees will be based on the number of credits you will study per year. For 2010/2011 the fee will be £200 per 20 credits studied. You can calculate your fee from the number of credits per module listed on this information sheet.
