How to Apply

There are various ways to apply for an Apprenticeship. So that you are able to see what category you fall into, simply follow the information below to find out how you can apply.

I want to be an apprentice and already have an employer

If you already have an employer who will put you through an Apprenticeship all you need to do is call 0845 600 4140 or alternativley you can fill out our online application form and we’ll start the process. You’ll need to have to hand the full details of the employer including the name, address and a telephone contact so we can contact them. Once we’ve done this we’ll be able to go through the paperwork with your employer and get you signed up to your Apprenticeship!

I want to be an apprentice but don’t have an employer

In order to do an Apprenticeship you have to be employed. However, just because you don’t have an employer at this stage, it doesn’t mean we won’t be able to help. Take a look at the steps below to see how you can still apply for an Apprenticeship.

Step 1: Take a look on our vacancy page and see if there are any Apprenticeship vacancies in the areas you’re looking for. This page is updated weekly so be sure to keep checking on a regular basis.
If you find a suitable job vacancy simply fill out the online application form attached to that position to apply for the Apprenticeship post. If you can’t find what you’re looking for then follow the instructions in step 2.

Step 2: If you can’t find an Apprenticeship vacancy on our vacancy page then fill out a Newcastle College application form. Once we’ve received your application we’ll contact you to discuss your options. You could enrol on a pre-apprenticeship course which would enable you to get started with your training whilst we try to find you an employer, or a short course to improve your employability skills.

Although we will try to help you find an employer it is always best to do some searching yourself to increase the chances of getting an Apprenticeship. If you are looking to find employment there are a number of approaches you can take. You can begin by sending off your CV to companies you would like to work for, searching job websites, visiting businesses you are interested in and responding to Apprenticeship adverts in local papers.
