Masters Business Administration (MBA)

Aniq Anwar - Masters Business Administration

Aniq Anwar, aged 32, wanted to improve his understanding of business so after successfully completing the Level 2 AAT Accountancy qualification at Newcastle College he followed the advice of his tutors and enrolled onto the Foundation Degree in Business Management. Aniq combined his studies with working part-time for an IT retail business based in Gateshead and he progressed onto the BA (Hons) Top-Up and gained a first class honours degree.

This gave the Aniq the perfect opportunity to pursue a Masters in Business Administration qualification. His employer supported him fully in his studies and altered his working hours so that Aniq could continue to work in the business yet also allow him to fully focus on his MBA qualification.

Aniq says:

“There were aspects of the MBA that were quite tricky but my tutors were always on hand to support me and it was never a problem to approach them for additional help and information.”

Aniq completed his MBA with Distinction and feels that his qualifications have helped improve his career prospects as he was able to apply for a number of high level job opportunities that previously would have been out of his reach. However, Aniq realised that with his skill set, supported by his Masters qualification, a new career opportunity was open to him; that of teaching.

He approached the Newcastle School of Education based at the college, who are a centre of excellence in teacher training, and has now enrolled on a part-time PGCE qualification. Aniq will be starting his work placement shortly, teaching business students, and is looking forward to having a full time teaching role.

Aniq comments:

“I’d recommend Newcastle College and the college tutors have been superb. You’ve got to be motivated and want to succeed in order to complete a postgraduate qualification and I’ve done that. I have gained invaluable skills and knowledge that I will be able to carry on into my future career.”
